Dalcross International Airport, eight miles to the east of Inverness, is the nearest commercial airport to Cairncroft. It has recently been refurbished. Daily services to the Highland capital include easyjet from Luton and London Gatwick (the cheaper alternative, especially if booked well in advance and if not traveling at weekends), and British Airways from Gatwick. The flight from Gatwick or Luton is of about ninety minutes duration. Eastern Airways fly to Inverness from Birmingham and Manchester. Car hire is available at the airport (Hertz or Avis), and Arnold Clark (0141 848 0202) will deliver a car to the airport (and can be cheaper). Alternatively, there is a bus service from the airport (except Sundays). The taxi fare is usually approx £10. The Railway Station in the city centre, for connection via a Scotrail train to Ardgay or Lairg (ten miles from Cairncroft). |
