Disc Golf
Disc Golf in the UK is a sport in it's infancy, but it's simplicity and minimal environmental impact are making it increasingly popular. Instead of a white ball being struck by clubs until it is holed, disc golf involves the throwing of specialised discs (not unlike frisbees). Each shot is taken from where the last fell, until the disc is "holed", either by hitting a specified target, or by dropping into a metal basket (as above).
There is a ten basket course, set in an idyllic location, on the banks of Loch Broom in Ullapool. Local players there (collectively known as "the L.A.D.S." - Lochbroom Amateur Disc Slammers) have set up their own website, appropriately named highlandflingers, which is both fun and informative. The course in Ullapool is at Ullagolf, which has disks for hire.
